ZalaZONE Test Driver Assessment

The " ZalaZONE test driver assessment" Program

The "ZalaZONE test driver assessment" is a foundational level assessment that functions more as a strict examination than a mere educational session. This qualification rigorously evaluates a driver’s ability to perform various challenging manoeuvres, which are crucial for safe and effective operation on our test tracks. Participants are required to successfully complete two out of four assessed attempts for each manoeuvre to pass the qualification.

List of exercises for "ZalaZONE test driver assessment" program:

1. 12 m slalom: A warm-up exercise where the driver navigates through cones spaced 12 meters apart. The goal is to steer precisely between the cones within 15 seconds.
2. Emergency Braking: Performed on a wet surface, the driver applies full brake pressure at speeds of 60, 80, 100, and lastly at 120 km/h to simulate emergency stopping in adverse conditions.
3. Brake Evasion: At 115 km/h, the driver must emergency brake and steer left to avoid an obstacle, moving into the adjacent lane and aligning with a cone gate. This task emphasizes precise control during high-speed emergency manoeuvres.
4. Understeering: A circular track is set up with cones. Participants are required to drive around it at a recommended speed of 50-55 km/h in 4th gear. The trainer will signal when to increase speed to induce understeering. The driver must induce understeering at least three times, with the ESP (Electronic Stability Program) turned off.
5. 24 m Slalom: A higher-speed slalom with cones spaced 24 meters apart, requiring the driver to control the car dynamically within an 8.2-second time limit.
6. Double Lane Change: At 90 km/h in 6th gear, the driver makes rapid lane changes to avoid an obstacle, returning to the original lane without braking or accelerating, emphasizing stability during sudden manoeuvres.
7. Oversteering Control: At 75-80 km/h, the driver initiates a left turn to avoid an obstacle, inducing oversteer. The task is to regain control by counter-steering effectively.

Acceptance table
If you have already completed driver training on another track, we will also accept them as follows:

Advanced Levels

For those seeking higher certification, advanced level trainings include these manoeuvres at increased speed, along with additional challenges such as:
High-Speed Driving: On our handling tracks, testing drivers' abilities at much higher velocities.
Drifting: On low-traction surfaces, including wet conditions, to master vehicle control in extreme scenarios.

Track and Expertise

ZalaZONE provides the Dynamic Ring, specifically designed for these qualification sessions. It is used for testing drivers response under dynamic conditions, pushing them to their limits, and simulating real-world emergency situations.
Each qualification session is conducted under controlled conditions with repeated practice runs, culminating in an evaluation that determines whether the driver meets the stringent requirements of the certification.
Our trainers at ZalaZONE are highly qualified and experienced, having successfully completed more professional driver trainings, including ATP A, B, and C level qualifications. The Toyota GR86 vehicles were carefully chosen for their excellent handling and to meet the rigorous demands of our programs.  The Toyota GR86 is a front-engine, rear-wheel-drive 2-door coupe with a 6-speed manual transmission. It has a 2.4L flat-4 engine producing 228 hp and 250 Nm of torque. The car accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.4 seconds and has an estimated top speed of 225 km/h.

By upholding these high standards, ZalaZONE ensures that every driver on our tracks is fully prepared to handle the challenges they may face, while maintaining a strong focus on safety.
