The ADAS and AD vehicle systems provide an opportunity to avoid potential accidents and emergency situations. During the testing process, dummy targets play a prominent role. Since these systems are often not advanced enough during the development phase, a test solution is necessary for which neither people nor the vehicle can be harmed.
Due to the lightweight structure of the 4activeSystems target dummies, in case of a collision, they don’t get damaged. Their size, shape, and reflective qualities are representing real people (with or without vehicles) or even animals. These characteristics make it possible to get realistic radar, camera, and lidar sensor responses. The robust construction allows testing even in rough conditions, and the modular system enables an easy and fast change of spare parts. The dummies can be moved by belt-driven propulsion systems or small robotized platforms.
The driver assistance systems are tested using standardized test cases created by e.g., Euro NCAP. After carrying out the official tests, the vehicles are rated based on their results. A driving assistance system test series can consist of hundreds of test cases combining different speeds and parameters. The various scenarios include rear-ending collisions, hazards during different maneuvers, blind spot monitoring system tests, and other everyday situations that often result in accidents.
Pedestrian targets and devices are fully compliant with Euro NCAP regulations. Our clients can choose between pedestrian (both an adult and a 7-year-old), bicyclist, deer, and motorcyclist dummies. Upon request, renting other dummies or equipment available from 4activeSystems is also possible.
On our proving ground, we offer a modern and safe environment for the execution of ADAS and AD tests. AD and ADAS-related systems can be tested on our ADAS surface in compliance with standards and requirements according to NCAP scenarios. For all that we provide fully equipped car and truck workshops indispensable during daily use, with a complete engineering and service background (Euro NCAP targets & carriers, actuators, localization, and high-level control units).
With the help of our experienced, reliable team, dummies can be moved on predefined paths via driverless platforms. During such tests, dummies move synchronously with the vehicle in space and time, and the scenario can be repeated several times. To ensure that the movement of the vehicle can also be reproduced, our team is also available to robotize the vehicle.
